Black Eyed Peas and Cudi came with a universal party song. Another one to add to the pregamming playlist. On a side note, how invigorating are Cudi & Drake to the game? They each have the co-sign from the two most relevant artists, and are the next most talented. And now we get to sit back and watch their artistry flourish. Thank you.

W&B Tribute To John Stockton
John. We fuck with you. You held it down for 19 seasons. That's stupid. You came to work each day, did what you had to do, and kept it pushing. Rocked the short shorts when everybody rocked the short shorts, and rocked the short shorts when nobody rocked the short shorts. You go for that too. Slightweight looked like a dentist. But a dentist with the nastiest pick and roll ever. Forreal forreal. You're not a point guard. You're a point god. And we appreciate you. Wine & Bowties. Classtime.
The Self-Serving Nightclub

Marvin Gaye - "Where Are We Going"
Where are we going? Somewhere we've never been before. But we'll create it. We can paint it. With colors so sweet. They just can't be beat. It hasn't been done before, but this is our chance. It's our chance for change. Yours and mine, and hers and his. It's us. But not them. War is not the answer.
Luigi Colani's Rotating House
A house with rotating rooms. Is this the future? With a world population that isn't getting any smaller, this may become the movement. A beautiful design that really challenges our usage of space in the home. The underlying assumptions that Colani made about people being able and willing to function in this space is equally refreshing. The house fuckin rotates. Jared the Up & Comer strikes again.

Justyn Case feat. Clyde Carson - "Choosin Season"
The newest slap by Trevy Trev featuring Clyde Carson. On the real, gracias for the tremendous game you threw to me, I'm better for it. Summer's coming up, call it Choosin Season. This is like the '09 112 Don't Be Mad. Real settled.

Some Inspiration From Andre Agassi
Haha. Andre Agassi getting inspirational. Who woulda thunk. Gotta agree with the saying though. Everyday above ground is a gift. The dope thing about sleeping is each day you wake up, you've got a fresh start. Yes, yesterday, last month and last year happened, but we have the ability to make the choices that will define the days and more importantly the future. On another note, Andre Agassi had damn near the wettest Nike line of all time.
The Beatles - "Come Together" (Live)
"He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me..."
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me..."

The Opposite of Winning
Funny stuff. Really funny stuff. This cat is losing on a European version of the Maury Povich show. Dude puts him on the spot, gets a little flustered, and now he's on Wine & Bowties. :24 sec is classic.

Dear Rob

Track The Swine Flu With Google Maps
Swine flu's going dumb in these streets. Or is it? Not sure if it's really all bad for civilization, or if we're getting gassed by the damn media. Regardless, we probably hear about this thing every day. Here's a helpful graphic from Google, you can chart the crazed epidemic here.

Mos Def - "Say You Will" Cover (Live)
Slightweight late. Our apologies. But so necessary. Mos Def going in for 12 minutes doing 'Say You Will" with a live band. Mos prolly heard this the first time and was like, "I could murk this mufucka," and then he did. Really beautiful music. The band goes in round the 3:30 mark, then Mos goes into U R The One, which quite frankly is one of the best songs ever. More on that in the future. Settle on this for now.

Collie Buddz - "Old Times Sake"
This is a slap. Collie comes so correct on this one. From Bermuda but born in New Orleans? Strange. Just go with it. Also known as Colin Harper. A bonus track off his debut album Collie Buddz. Forget context on this one, just let it play. Trees and sunshine will increase enjoyment.
W&B Artist Interview with Kirsten Harkonen

Why is SF great: I love San Francisco. The city has a great energy and wonderful cultural diversity. It's just a fun place to be, everyone seems so happy. I love how small the city is. It's nice to be able to go anywhere and see people I know, this can also be kind of a burden when I want to be alone and can't be.
What's your favorite restaurant: My favorite restaurant is El Toreador. I love Mexican food and chocolate, I couldn't live without it!

How Do you feel about Ed Hardy? I hate Ed Hardy.
What are your favorite websites: fecalface.com, art blogs- i heart photograph, lens culture, who killed bambi. I love using stumble upon (it's an addon for firefox users), it's great for inspiration.

HIV-Resistant People Found In Uganda

Dr. Pontiano Kaleebu, an immunologist heading the Basic Sciences Programme of the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), told Saturday Vision that an ongoing study and a previous one at the institute had unearthed signs that some Ugandans may be resistant to HIV.
They have special white blood cells that can only be produced when the virus attacks the body. However, even with the most sophisticated tests, HIV could not be found in these individuals, implying that the virus had tried to infect them but the immune system kicked it out.

A.P.C 2009 Spring/Summer Collection
A.P.C. Damn near the wettest. Just really fly shit. Subtle and simple yet elegant and sophisticated. Below are pieces from the Spring/Summer collection. Stack some bread, make some moves and you'll be rockin it too.

Nylon + Nike Dunk High
Nylon magazines been doing it. They go because they stay at the pulse of pop culture and cover a lot of different shit. They also have a dope perspective with interesting interviews. Featured below is a collaboration between Nylon & Nike. Some dunk Hi's. Solid Neon? These kicks really go. They're not the dopest kicks ever, but their concept is simple yet unique. Like, "Damn I woulda thought they'd done that by now." Refreshing.
Dee & Ricky got some.

"I Hope I Didn't Brain My Damage"
The Simpson family first appeared in a series of shorts on the Tracey Ullman show in 1987, and premiered as a full-length series in '89. 400+ Episodes later, The Simpsons still has the 8 o'clock spot locked down every Sunday night on Fox. Longevity is the word. Personally, I grew up on The Simpsons. In all likelihood, you did too. This clip is from one of the dopest and most visually creative episodes of their 20 year run. Homer on a pretty fucked up trip. Enjoy.
Eminem - "3 A.M."
I think its safe to say only Mr. Mathers could get away with releasing some shit like this as a single. If you're like me, and the radio-friendly "We Made You" didn't really do it for you, the horror-flick humor of "3 A.M." will be a refreshing change in subject matter from celebrity parodies and fart jokes. Either way, this is a certified banger, and Em's flow is ridiculous as usual. Relapse drops May 15th. Artwork (below) is pretty solid.
We Really, Really Love Sports

“ Jordan , for three – AND IT’S GOOD!” I’ve said it and you’ve said it, as we fire another piece of wadded up paper towards the trashcan. We all love MJ, but that’s not the point here. We love sports, a lot.
To start, we have this strange infatuation with sport stats. People rattle stats off as if they are solving a metaphysical quandary, or like they are doing the business of splitting the atom. We listen to them intently – “In 2007, Kobe became the youngest player to reach 20,000 points. Hank Aaron used to hold the record for most career home runs in the Major Leagues with 755, until he was surpassed by Barry Bonds. In the 2007-2008 season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 42 goals. A-Rod signed the richest baseball contract in history at $275 million.” Blah, blah, blah. If you aren’t betting on the games, why bother memorizing these stats? It’s like you have to know stats to justify that you are a sports fan. Can’t I just enjoy watching the game? I’m a fan of you shutting up about field goal percentages – that’s what I’m a fan of.
I was sitting around the other day and began thinking about the playoff hockey games that were going to be aired later in the night. I didn’t stop there, I picked up my phone and started reading predictions, injury lists, line orders, and so on. I did it like it mattered. I guess what it comes down to is not whether or not it matters, but how much it matters. Does social justice matter? How about poverty? But damn, those Red Wings look good on paper.
We talk about teams like they are our teams or as if we are a part of them. “Let’s go boys!” we scream. And when they win we say, “We did it.” Personally, I didn’t do jack-diddly. I drank a beer and barbecued. The only sweat I broke came from the flames of the coals. But anyway, “We did it.”
Game's on, gotta go.

Kanye West feat. Young Jeezy - "Amazing"
Kanye dropped another video. It goes. IMO not one of his best, but better than almost all other rap videos out. Shot in Hawaii. This video is notable for a few reasons. 1. The aerial shots are just dope. 2. Ye busted the jean jacket. (Who's gonna rock it correctly first?) 3. 2nd Ye & Jeezy collab. Is this better than Put On though? Keep watching after the song plays out, Kanye's out here feeling himself on 106 & Park. I don't blame him. I would too.

Scott Wade's Dust Art
Apparently with art the world can be your canvas. Find a medium you can manipulate and rock with it. Also at this moment let us welcome Riggs also known as JRich the Up & Comer to the W&B initiative. This post is on behalf of him. Back to Scott Wade. Dude does his thing, takes a picture, finds a dusty ass car and makes a masterpiece. Chuurrccch.

Passion Pit - "The Reeling"
Straight outta Cambridge and fresh off their 2008 hit "Sleepyhead," Passion Pit comes with their latest work, "The Reeling". Best described as electro-rock with strong hypem love, Passion Pit has a chance to really do it. Bundy knew first. Currently on a nationwide tour, the quintet is slated to drop their new album entitled Manners on May 19. This video is dope, and has the ability to turn most folks into fans. The video captures a night out with friends, made unique by a paper ripping effect.

Is there a giant corporation out there better at looking like a small independent business than Nike? On the marketing tip, a great initiative by Nike in efforts to support artistic works that fall in line with the scope of the brand. Great animation by Richard Kenworthy.

Derrick Rose Top 10 Plays of the Year
Props to Derrick Rose first, to this Top 10 second. We've got Top 10's stacked for the W&B. Believe that. But since this is one of the first, the area of Top 10's is a pursuit to be improved upon. Frankly, the cross on Andre Miller should've been coupled with the block right afterward to make a double number one play. That way the number 1 would pack more punch, and we could see another highlight. W&B. We out here.

Alife Summer 2009 Chukka
Wettest Alifes from the Spring/Summer collection. These kicks are so settled. Again, simple and deliberate. Definitely rockable with jeans, and maybe appropriate with shorts. Maybe. Probably. Yes. Not too sure about the red joints, but the greys are versatile enough to rock with most colors on top, and look straight with most color jeans. Compliments guaranteed. $125. Cop here.
Iraq Air Raids Hit Mostly Women & Children

(The Independent) Analysis carried out for the research group Iraq Body Count (IBC) found that 39 per cent of those killed in air raids by the US-led coalition were children and 46 per cent were women. Fatalities caused by mortars, used by American and Iraqi government forces as well as insurgents, were 42 per cent children and 44 per cent women.
Twelve per cent of those killed by suicide bombings, mainly the tool of militant Sunni groups, were children and 16 per cent were females. One in five (21 per cent) of those killed by car bombs, used by both Shia and Sunni fighters, was a child; one in four (28 per cent) was a woman.
The figures, compiled by academics at King’s College and Royal Holloway, University of London, show that hi-tech weaponry has caused lethal damage to those in the population who would be furthest away from the conflict.

Jimmy Cliff - "Struggling Man"
Some Jimmy Cliff to get the day crackin right. Today will be a good one. Although we've got little true struggles, let us take the position of Jimmy. Let's envision we were struggling men even though we aren't struggling. How much harder would we go?
E.T: The Bike Chase
I remember riding the ride at Universal Studios. Shit was so clean. Thanks Cathy. These kids got serious bars. The classic scene from E.T. On another note movies got to get back to just telling dope stories. The technology is so wooped in this movie but the stories good so it doesn't matter. When we have these movies that have wack stories and great technology we end up marveling at the advances made in the moment over the endurance of a great story. I have a feeling we're gonna look back at Iron Man in 20 years and hate it even more.

"Spice & Herb" Grinder By TRUE
So dope. entrepreneurship should be all about this. (Or maybe it already is) Making products that represent the thoughts, feelings and beliefs of the company. TRUE came so correct with these grinders. Dubbed the "Spice & Herb" Grinder these gems feature the lyrics to "Bammer Weed" written across the top of the piece. We Don't Smoke That Shit In The SFC Don't Give Me No Bammer Weed. Pieces dropped today over at TRUE. Only 42 made makes them even cooler.

Drake + Angie Martinez Interview On Hot97
Angie Martinez sits down with everyone's favorite to discuss Drakes insane buzz, the method to his madness, and the genius of Lil' Wayne. With all the hype surrounding him right now, Drake seems incredibly comfortable with his current state in the game. You can sense that he's excited but not anxious, ready but not overly eager. The future seems so bright.
Let Go Of Jesus
Folks have serious lego bars. The Yankee Stadium was cool, but this piece has a whole different type of relevancy. Created in the Onsta Gryta church in the central Swedish city of Vasteras, the piece took 40 volunteers 18 weeks to complete. The piece is a copy of Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen's "Christus" statue on display in Copenhagen.

Guarujá House by Bernardes + Jacobsen

Here at Wine & Bowties we don't like to bite. But you've got to give credit where credit is do. The iciest house I've seen from Kanye. This house is made by architectual duo Dream home doesn't really do it justice. It should have a one word name, like inspiration.
The house is a holiday home for a family with two children, and comprises a pavilion supported by pillars among the trees, overlooking the sea.The building has a steel structure with wooden floors, doors and window frames. The whole idea of the project was created when Thiago was visiting the site. There, in front of the client, he sketched what later would be the transverse section of what was being proposed: a vacation house, for a couple and their two kids. A place where they could invite friends over frequently.

Chester French: Jacques Jams
This post is long overdue. The next step in the CF movement. Twas a bit difficult picking the right songs for the post but they're selected. The most exciting thing about Jacque Jams are the collaborations. Partnering with Clinton Sparks to produce the tape, the duo partners with everyone from Diddy, to Janelle Monae, to Pusha T. Chester French is the truth. The first rock band to release a hip hop mixtape before their debut. Kof believes.

The mixtape details the career of CF, from their days at Harvard to their rise to fame. On Nerd Girl, D.A touches on his dream mate, while Out At The Compound can be best described as an ode to The Beatles in style and sound. She Loves Everybody is still the headlining track on the tape but CF's other songs support the tape well, while tempting us for their debut album, Love The Future.

9:41AM

I woke up this morning. When I opened my eyes the first thought that crossed my mind was, "Yesss." Not like, "Yesss, I'm doing it.. etc. etc." But Yess like I get to live another day. Ever since I saw Ishmael Beah speak I've had a greater appreciation for this thing we call life. Ishmael spoke about the fact that some nights he didn't know if he would wake up in the morning. He would go to sleep scared. The uncertainty plaguing every pleasant thought his mind could muster.
When I woke up this morning I said, "Yesss." I will eat some food. Talk to my friends and maybe even see some (Ben holler at me). I can breathe through both nostrils, I can run, and jump, dance, and sing. That's more than enough to be happy about. So I say thank you, or thank him, or thank her, or thank it to whoever granted this beautiful beautiful life.

Underground Art Battles

I actually gotta give it to Brette. She was on her art hype first. Creativity is the ultimate movement, and art is a beautiful application. The Art Battle is really something else. A 90 minute freestyle art session. Check the synopsis: Each contestant is given a huge 20 foot mural with no prior knowledge of themes and must then put something together in an interactive environment as art-lovers look on. No sketch-books are allowed effectively ensuring that this is truly on the spot ingenuity. Winners are determined via a three point system. Two judges as well as a crowd-component measured via a decibel reader are used to determine a winner. The images seen here were taken from an event that took place in London.
Michael Jackson 'Beat It' Interview 1982
This is lightweight fascinating. Michael Jackson, arguably at the pinnacle of his career, speaks with the 80's television series Celebrity Showcase about his life, his friends and his rise to fame. This is so interesting not only for the answers he gives, but to think of these answers in hindsight some 20 years later. Like, "Oh maybe this is why he turned out like this.." This is an important and interesting interview to see for anyone ever interested or a fan of MJ.

Umbrella Installations
What else can we turn into art? Flip the common use of it and turn it into something fly. Apparently all it takes is for us to reconsider the function of an object, and present it in another light. I think they call that thinking outside the box.
