Facebook Nearly 20% Larger Than Myspace
Different tracking services show different numbers when it comes to measuring which social network is most popular, but at least one now places Facebook with a significant lead in the US. Compete has updated its data for January, and the service now shows Facebook seeing a full 10 million more visitors each month than MySpace.
With Facebook growing another 14.9% from December to January, the site now reaches 68.5 million people each month, versus 58.5 million for MySpace. Zuckerberg > Tom

'Swagga Like Us' Performance (Grammys)
My "mumblings and grumblings" on the performance:
M.I.A goes hard for that, going hard at the Grammys with a baby on board. You know Kanye is fresh when he can have a fucked up haircut and nobody says anything. Jay is like the Marlon Brando of the crew. This is tight but kiiiiiiinnnnddddaa weak. I like the B/W though. Wayne still probably goes the hardest. They should've done more choreographed moves to really just kill it, then they could combine all of their individual swagger to have the most swagged out Grammy performance. Instead the swag of the performance plateaus at like a 9.1 on the swagger scale. T.I should've gone third Wayne should've wrapped it up. I'm inspired.

Madonna Said Music Makes The People Come Together
I like music because I like to sing and dance. It's also fun to listen to music with friends. I think music can bring people together because there is a transcending element that goes beyond pretty much any distinction you can make between people. Don Imus and Malcolm X could probably bond over some UB40 or maybe Dave Mathews Band. maybe. But something that is pleasing to the ear has no boundaries of appeal because the ear cannot attach meaning to things like the eyes can. Bundy feels me I know.
'Swagga Like Us' To Be Performed Tonight at the Grammys
It's arguable to make the statement that they're the best 4 rappers out. Easier to say they're the most relevant to the game right now. Kanye, Weezy F, Jay-Z, T.I (on the track in that order) are all on the song Swagga Like Us. (im just trying to get every1 on the same page). In my humble opinion this should be the last song to recognize 'swagger,' shits just hella played out now. But regardless tonight will be the first time the 4 perform the song together. There is a certain inevitability of being talked about. Whether you like it or not there is undoubtedly going to be someone discussing their thoughts about you, positive or negative. Top 3 reasons people seem to find me interesting: I blaze, I paint, I don’t let other peoples thoughts limit my experiences. I don’t really think those are good reasons to find me interesting. I feel like I'm pretty normal actually but hey …it is what it is. I’ve made it my mission to substantially decrease the level of chatter with my name in it regardless of what its about. I’ve lowered the number of people who know all there is to know about me to a maximum of 3, not including my sister who has been there my entire life. I have also removed myself from conversations about other people. Being in conversations where people do nothing but talk about other people is one of the top 5 weakest situations. It makes my soul bored and irritable… and that’s an understatement.
So why is it that a few days ago I stumbled upon a rumor with my name in it that originated from a misunderstanding that occurred about a year ago. A YEAR ago? Really? Mind you this person has no idea who I am, just knows my name. But they took it upon themselves to continue to spread the gossip about me. I found it funny that they were also talking to someone who they had no clue knew me. What is so enticing about gossip that makes it irresistible to share? It was reported by a Social Issues Research Center that gossip accounts for 55% of men's conversation time and 67% of women's. That’s a lot of gossip.

Evolutionary psychology argues that human nature--our psychological architecture as much as our physical form--was shaped to survive and reproduce under a particular set of conditions. Giant Titanoboa Snake Found In The Amazon
A titanic snake that fed on crocodiles and was longer than a London bus has been identified as the top predator to rule the land when the dinosaurs disappeared.It weighed 1.25 tons and with a length of 45 feet or more it would have been able to take on and eat pretty much any other animal it came across. The newly discovered type of snake, named Titanoboa in honour of its immense size, was for 10 million years the largest land predator on earth. At least 28 individual specimens have been uncovered in Colombia and, with all of them being around 40 feet long, researchers said it is likely the species could have reached much further than 45 feet. With that size it is possible that the snake would have trouble getting through doors.

Aquarium Telephone Booth
Lighting designers Benoit Deseille and Benedetto Bufalino have come together to create something unimaginable for the annual Lyon Light Festival in France. Relating the scope and purpose of their work, the designers stated, "With the advent of the mobile telephone, telephone booths lie unused. We rediscover this glass cage transformed into an aquarium, full of exotically coloured fish; an invitation to escape and travel." (thepirata).

Thought For Food: Michael Phelps "Caught" Smoking
So Michael Phelps is a real person! Who smokes trees, parties with girls, and likes to swim. The recent onslaught of news covering this "story" is a bit distressing to me as time and time again, the reputation of famous people are shattered as "incriminating" evidence relates another side of these individuals. Not to be too naive here, but I must ask, who really deems these photos, films, and audio clips incriminating? Michael Phelps is not T.I. In Phelps' case, I believe it is the News of the World, the British news publication that initially received the photo.
Foxsport.com stated that, "the report allegedly made Phelps' handlers so paranoid that they offered the paper an eye-popping deal to keep it from seeing the light of day - having Phelps pen a column for the paper for three years." (Which is hilarious and absurd at the same time.)
My issue is this. When photos like these come out, who is to say what that photo means, and how it should be viewed? Foxsports.com later reported that the photo was, "so potentially damaging to his career that his representatives allegedly [the media loves to throw out that allegedly] tried to buy off the British Newspaper to keep the photo from seeing the light of day." Surely, this photo may be detrimental for his endorsement deals, as Powerbar, Speedo, and Visa rely on Phelps to pitch their products to the public. But part of me believes that some fault should lie in the hands of these corporations who wanted to believe that Phelps has never really done anything in his life except swim. Which is dumb.
Possibly the underlying struggle of this story is the promotion of ones image versus their true reality and character. When we mix celebrities (people with fame) with products to sell to the public (people without fame) we muddy the true reality of who that person is, as we buy into the feigned reality presented in that 30 second short. "But I thought Michael Phelps was this type of person, but this photo shows him as this type of person.." Rather than letting each bit of information we learn about celebrities add to our total understanding of who they are as a whole, the role of endorsements creates an environment where photos become incriminating as they create a discord between the perceived image of the celebrity and the realities they portray.
Personally, the fact that I now know that Michael Phelps has smoked trees before, makes me appreciate him more. I was like, "Damn he served the rest of the world in swimming AND he smokes trees??" Michael Phelps has become more human to me. I think it's silly for us to believe that people we see in the media are squeaky clean figures that have never experimented with anything, made a poor decision, or decided to take a chance.
George Bush liked the yayo. Bill Clinton was down with the fellatio. Can Michael Phelps not get on some trees?
