Scenes like this are why Spike is the realest out. He Got Game is a film about a lot of things, touching on the culture of sports in America, as well as race and incarceration, among other things. But more than anything, what Spike relates here is the beauty of the game in its simplest form. The music, the setting, the cinematography; it all adds up to a poignant and perfectly executed scene. Father and son. One on one.
