Joaquin Phoenix On Letterman 2-11-09 - watch more funny videos
I feel sorry for Joaquin. He doesn't get up and have conversations in front of hundreds of people that are broad casted to millions everyday. David Letterman does. You can tell that Joaquin's mind isn't there. Maybe he's blown but maybe his mind has made this moment more crucial than it really is. "Damn, I'm bout to be on Letterman tonight, Damn, I'm bout to be on Letterman tonight." So then he gets there, and he's just trippin. As quoted by BuzzNewsroom,, "David Letterman Skewers him." He murks him with the quick wit. This interview is 10 minutes. Yes it is tremendously awkward but hats off to David Letterman for turning a dull awkward interview to classic Letterman status. He goes for that. 3:48 mark is jokes. It's like he's not thinking about the words he's saying, he's just trying to make sounds that work. This makes for probably one of the more awkward conversations recorded on television. 7:33 mark is painfully funny. Joaquin looks at him like, "Why you gotta do me like this?" Things really go south at 8:30 when Dave asks Joaquin to set up the clip. So then they show the clip, and dude can act! He's fantastic at acting like he's having a conversation. That's what he's on David Letterman for...
So, umm, Joaquin Phoenix has been nominated for Awards for acting out reality, but when it comes to living it he's like Fat Joe on a tennis court? Isn't this a bit peculiar in itself? Or is it extra ordinary that an actor cannot handle himself in real life? Who knows.
"And Joaquin Phoenix, I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight." Painful awkward and hilarious
props to portal-a for the update
