Alongside the efforts of Julian Beever, this creative work falls under the category of Trompe-l'œil, which means 'trick of the eye,' and is defined as an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three dimensions, instead of actually being a two-dimensional painting.
The role of perspective serves as an interesting concept to think about when looking at these paintings, and applying their essence to the surrounding world. With these paintings, you have to be standing at a certain and specific angle to see the painting in its entirety. From any other angle the paintings may appear to be images of terrible proportions.
When thinking about perspective in understanding social situations, can we then say that perspective lies in the angle from which we look at a situation? Or do the contexts that we create around a situation dictate our understanding and opinion of the occurrence? Some would say the Lakers won Game 4 of the finals, while others would say it was lost by Orlando. Our reality is what we make it, but experiencing something from various standpoints may be the most beneficial element to our overall perspective.
