El Michels Affair - "The 38th Chamber"

It's pretty much common knowledge that Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin' to fuck with. Less well known is El Michels Affair, whose recent project, Enter the 37th Chamber blends their gritty soul sound with the Wu classics we know and love. The band prides itself on their aesthetic, a sound which has been dubbed "cinematic soul" by various critics. In describing their music, the band says they look to "blend the cinematic quality of soundtrack records with the recording aesthetic of early reggae, and the rawness of 60's rock". Featured in the video are the band's covers of "C.R.E.A.M." and "Shimmy Shimmy Ya", forming the perfect backdrop for some old school samurai shit to do gown.

  1. Wine&Bowties,

Hi, my name is Luke, I work for a Brooklyn-based marketing/publicity company called Audible Treats (www.audibletreats.com). We cover a lot of hip hop and underground/indie hip hop acts, specifically the El Michels Affair. I just saw your latest post about them and was wondering if you would like to receive our future blasts and press releases for El Michels and, depending on what you like/post, the other artists on our roster, which you can check out here: www.audibletreats.com/download.

Let me know, and thanks for the post.
