The Tenderloin Project

The best art isn't always the easiest to watch. Furthermore, the art that speaks to us most powerfully is often rooted in reality. Photographer/director Sean Desmond's Tenderloin Project most certainly falls into both categories. The project combines film and photography to paint what Desmond describes as "a compelling and honest portrait" of the Tenderloin, known widely as one of San Francisco's poorest and most marginalized areas. The result is something deeply resonant and meaningful, with a message and a purpose in mind. "The project will culminate in publishing the images in book form," explain the creators, "with proceeds from the sales being donated to organizations that promote and give access to art in the Tenderloin. This, we feel, will allow our project to live on for years and generations to come in the form of art within the community. " Check here for more info, videos and pics.

The Girls by Tony Duran

Photographer Tony Duran came so correct on this collection. From his Iconology series, this work features Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz, two of the most iconic beauties in the game. The challenge with photographing icons seems to be how to capture them naturally, and in an original way, since so many people already take their picture every day. These pictures strike a perfect balance between sexuality and elegance, capturing what it is that makes these two so captivating in front of the camera.

The "Dark Zoo" Series By Nicolas Evariste

I think we're just scratching the surface of where we're going artistically in the world. Amazing works pop up each day, people harnessing their talents to create lasting images. The work of Nicolas Evariste is no different. A remarkable photographer, his excellence is achieved through his passions, "I am passionate about everything related to the picture, a graphic designer by trade, I am also fanatical about painting, cinema, or literature. I like the image in all its forms!" Nicolas Evariste. wet dot net.

The Terry Richardson Action Figure

Terry Richardson is just hella clean. We've talked about it before. His life and his work seem to be intertwined in a way that allows him to capture life in its realest forms He takes pictures of shit that everyone does but no one talks about. You know he wakes up happy in the morning because he's doing what he wants to do. That's what makes him clean. Uncle York and Tokyo Element fuck with Terry too. They've come together to immortalize the chosen one with a 7.5 inch figure of himself. Only 25 made though. Nonetheless sometimes it's good to be in a pro pree 8.

The Book By Xavier Barrade

Xavier Barrade is a french artist who is currently studying at the Fine Arts at Les Beaux Arts de Paris. His photography featured below, entitled, The Book, is in his own words, "a photo book about the presence of book." The contrast of backgrounds allows the books to exist on their own, remaining themselves while their context changes. Icy on all fronts, more from Xavier to come.

Girls By Michael Oats

Michael Oats is a contemporary photographer who has done various youth campaigns. Projects entitled Barranco Blanco, The Beauty & The Pink, and Teen Dreaming, seek to highlight the essence of youth, by portraying young adults in ordinary but specific poses. The photos below are a collection of his various works. The lack of eye contact with the photographer leaves so much to be desired. So much.
